Coalition of groups launched to put federal transfers to provinces on national agenda
An informal coalition of not-for-profit and think tank organizations has agreed the issue of federal transfers to the provinces needs to be placed firmly on the national agenda. For over a decade, Frontier has explored and exposed the unintended harm caused by the well-meaning policies around regional transfers and equalization. Now a national coalition of groups have banded together to ensure the facts about the harm done get discussed in the lead up to renewing these transfers in 2014. Frontier is honoured to participate in this coordinated effort to seek out evidence-based analysis of what has gone wrong, and how we might avoid similar errors going forward, while actually solving some of the problems we set out to solve with these national programs. Each organization is working on independent research ideas that policy makers can consider in dealing with the imbalances created by the current system. The Coalition members include: The Frontier Centre for Public Policy, the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies, Reseau Liberte-Quebec, The Montreal Economic Institute, The Canadian Taxpayers Federation, and The Manning Center for Building Democracy.
