Equalization Hurts All Canadians - Part 2 - David Mackinnon

For fifty years, regional subsidies of all kinds including equalization have been a defining characteristic of Canadian federalism. However, they have damaged productivity in all regions and are an unconscionable burden on the people of Ontario. For these reasons, they will imperil Canadian competitiveness in the twenty first century and could lead to tensions that undermine national unity. Alternative paths are available and should be pursued.

This speech was delivered to the Ottawa West Rotary Club on October 16, 2012.
