Freshwater Fish Monopoly Hurts Fishermen

A new study by the Frontier Centre says commercial fishermen on the prairies are suffering under a government monopoly that began more than 40 years ago. The Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation was established in 1969 to handle all fish caught across the prairies and northwestern Ontario, but Ontario and Saskatchewan have now pulled out, and the Northwest Territories is seriously considering such a move.
