Black Out Speak Out: Fighting for Nature and Democracy

A symbolic protest was held by a coalition of non-profit environmental groups today. They are blacking out their websites in opposition to proposed changes in the federal government's sweeping budget bill.

The coalition claims the budget bill will weaken environmental laws while silencing those who seek to defend them. Others say the Black Out Speak Out Campaign is purely propaganda reaching for publicity when the potential changes are not extreme.

Does the federal budget bill put democracy at risk? How might proposed changes affect your favorite charitable groups?

Joining us for this discussion is Dan Woynillowicz, Director of Strategy and Communications with the Pembina Institute, also a Spokesperson for today's Black Out Speak Out Campaign; and Marco Navarro-Génie, Research Director with the Frontier Centre for Public Policy.
