Desperately trying to derail Canadian oil sands – February 1, 2013
The Alberta-to-Texas pipeline would create more than 5,500 Nebraska jobs during its construction period and support 1,000 permanent jobs through 2030. During the project’s lifetime, KXL would generate $950 million in labor income, $130 million in property, sales and other state and local taxes, and $679 million for the state’s gross domestic product, by bringing Canadian oil sands petroleum to Texas refineries.
Climate Crimes – January 28, 2013
In his evocative film “Climate Crimes”, the Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Eichelmann who was an active member of WWF for 17 years and worked in conservation for decades, now documents that it is rather the reverse: he shows how many ecosystems, species, habitats and the cultural heritage too are threatened – but, as he sums up, “not by climate change, but by climate protection and the things done in its name.”
The Carbon Trading Money Tree – January 21, 2013
The COP-18 environmental conference held in Doha has come and gone. In the wake of high expectations for a successor treaty, the Kyoto Protocol was extended, but only after bitter debate – and several countries have withdrawn from the process or signalled their intent to do so.
Trampling on People, Environment, Science and Ethics – January 15, 2013
Policy integrity. Ethical culture. Environmental protection. Environmental defense. Friends of earth. Defenders of wildlife. Ethical investing. Not just their names, but their charter, culture and policies – their very being – represent a commitment to these profound values. Or so we are supposed to believe.
Who Are the 'Deniers' Now? – January 15, 2013
Last year The Mail on Sunday reported a stunning fact: that global warming had ‘paused’ for 16 years. The Met Office’s own monthly figures showed there had been no statistically significant increase in the world’s temperature since 1997.
2012 Probably Not the Warmest Year in America – January 14, 2013
The National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) reported that 2012 was the warmest year on record. However, the NCDC is not to be trusted because of its poor methodology and damaged reputation.
EPA's Carbon Regs not Based on Sound Science – January 10, 2013
In 2007, a divided Supreme Court ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency must treat carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as "pollutants," and must therefore analyze whether the increasing concentrations in atmospheric carbon might reasonably be anticipated to endanger human health and welfare. The court may be on the verge of facing this issue once again.
The Kyoto Scorecard – January 10, 2013
The Kyoto Protocol on climate change used to be a big deal. So big that the future of humanity was said to hinge on its implementation. Did you know it expired on New Year's Day? We're guessing you didn't, but don't worry. It's no big deal.
Man The Lifeboats! Global Warming Has Oceans Rising At Alarming Rate! (Or Maybe not) – December 28, 2012

The Doha Wealth Redistribution Process Moves On – December 18, 2012
The eighteenth Conference of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP-18) has ended. It was the latest chapter in the interminable negotiations over wealth redistribution and control of energy use and economic growth – in the name of preventing “dangerous manmade global warming.” Next year in Warsaw!
Forget the Doom: Coral Reefs Will Bloom – December 17, 2012
A widespread belief that the world's coral reefs face a calamitous future due to climate change is proving less resilient than the natural wonders themselves.
No, Secretary General, developed nations did not cause global warming – December 13, 2012
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is misinformed when he states that developed countries have caused global warming and must bear the responsibility. Experts had written him a letter stating that there has been no overall warming or cooling of the planet for about 16 years and that the science is unclear on whether, when and how atmospheric warming will resume.
Man Made Global Warming Disproved – December 12, 2012
It takes only one experiment to disprove a theory. The climate models are predicting a global disaster, but the empirical evidence disagrees. The theory of catastrophic man-made global warming has been tested from many independent angles.
Christiana's Nightmare – For the Rest of Us – December 7, 2012
Talk about alignment of the stars! Barack Obama based his 2008 presidential campaign on the principle of “sharing the wealth.” He won, got reelected and now has, at least in his own mind, a flat-out mandate to extend his vision for wealth redistribution (and wealth destruction) planet-wide.
Environmentalist Power Trips Harm Poor Countries – December 6, 2012
The real danger is treaties, laws, regulations and taxes imposed in the name of preventing global-warming catastrophes that exist only in computer models, horror movies and environmentalist press releases. These political schemes will exacerbate and perpetuate poverty, disease, unemployment and economic stagnation. That is neither just nor sustainable.
Is Africa in an Emissions Arm Lock? – December 5, 2012
The latest world environment and climate change conference (COP-18) is taking place in Doha, Qatar. One of the prime issues under discussion is the attempt to force countries all over the world to adopt binding agreements to limit “carbon emissions.”
U.S. Greens Shut Down Canadian Oil – November 30, 2012
Heads up, Canada! Our one and only big energy customer, the United States, isn’t going to need Canadian oil any more. That’s the implication of the International Energy Agency’s latest predictions. The U.S. will be the world’s largest oil producer by 2020 and the largest oil exporter by 2030. Some say this could happen a lot sooner.
Nancy Greene: former Olympian turned Senator has no regrets – November 7, 2012
Canada’s female athlete of the 20th century once joked that she’d never accept the many overtures to enter federal politics because she’d lose her soul leaving B.C. for a city without nearby mountains.
