WHAT IS THE FRONTIER CENTRE FOR PUBLIC POLICY?
The Frontier Centre for Public Policy is an independent, Winnipeg-based "think tank". Our mission is to develop and popularize policy choices that will help Manitoba and the eastern prairie region live up to its vast but unrealized economic potential.

The Centre was founded by a group of individuals interested in making the prairie region a good place to live, work and prosper. Our advisory board includes both experienced community leaders and academic specialists. Charitable status as a registered educational organization was granted by Revenue Canada in April 1999.

WHAT IS THE "POLICY ORIENTATION" OF YOUR ORGANIZATION?
We try to scour Canada and the world for solutions for public policy problems. That search is pragmatic, but we have found that in most cases best practices tend in the direction of decentralization, properly constructed free markets and expanded choices for individuals. The principles that we rely on in analyzing government policy are transparency, separation and neutrality. The first value speaks for itself; citizens should be fully informed of what governments are doing for themselves. Separation means that leaders set policy and leave the implementation of them to professional civil servants, without interfering in their implementation of the broad policy goals laid out. Neutrality means that governments seek the best outcomes, no matter whether services are delivered in- or out-of-house.

WHO SUPPORTS THE FRONTIER CENTRE FOR PUBLIC POLICY?

The Centre is a non-profit educational charity which was registered in April 1999. The chart below provides a detailed breakdown of the Centre's sources of funding in 2007. In order of importance, the majority of funding comes from private charitable foundations, followed by national corporations, local businesses, and individuals. The Centre does not accept any funding from governments to maintain its independent and fresh perspective on public policy.
