The publicly funded Alberta Health Services board is spending nearly $5 million to bail out a private, for-profit surgical clinic in Calgary after it declared bankruptcy last week. That's despite the fact that the clinic was charging more for the surgeries than public hospitals. The bailout has re-ignited the debate over private health care.
